Calling on a range of therapeutic approaches such as CBT, ACT and compassion-focused therapy, I’ll help you transform challenges into opportunities for growth, and move through the process of change with more confidence and certainty.

My Therapeutic Approach

My approach is influenced by positive psychology, calling on a range of therapeutic modalities such as CBT, ACT and other evidence-based approaches, such as compassion focused therapy, to help you address your challenges. Here is a little about what you need to know:

  • Acceptance and commitment therapy is a unique and creative model for both therapy and coaching, based on the innovative use of mindfulness and values. The aim is to maximise your potential for a rich, full, and meaningful life through value-based living.

  • Compassion focused approach aims to promote mental and emotional well-being by developing and cultivating compassion and understanding towards ourselves and others, particularly during periods of great challenges when we can often find ourselves struggling with criticism.

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy tools can help you deal with overwhelming challenges in a practical and positive way by breaking down your experience into your thoughts, feelings, physical symptoms, and actions. The understanding is that unhelpful thoughts and feelings can create a vicious cycle that we can often feel confined by.

  • Positive psychology focuses on strengths, resilience, inspiration, compassion, and wellbeing. It is an approach that emphasises the positive influences in an individual’s life. It provides an additional angle to the struggles that you may be experiencing, by looking at what you can do well, what is going well for you and what you are experiencing happiness and joy from.

  • Regular attendance is important to ensure you see benefits from our work together. Initially, weekly sessions are usually recommended and, when possible, the same time will be reserved for you each week. Further down the treatment journey we may put some gaps between the sessions to allow you the time you need to apply the skills you have learned in our work together.

  • The aim of the initial sessions is for us to get to know each other and for me to learn in depth what you hope to gain from our work together. We will work towards putting together a blueprint of how things are for you, and we will use this to guide us on what you would like to focus on.

  • Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration.

  • Yes, your session can take place online, or face-to-face.

  • This depends on your situation and the kind of support you require. After your initial appointment, I’ll provide you with recommended next steps.
